Samsung Initiates Rollout of January Security Patch for Galaxy Flagship Phones
Samsung has commenced the distribution of the first security patch for its flagship phones in January 2024. The update, which has been observed by users in Europe, includes the firmware versions S91xBXXS3BWL3 for Galaxy S23, S90xBXXS7DWL3 for S22, and G99xBXXS9FWL9 for S21 devices. Weighing in at around 400MB, the patch addresses a critical security issue along with 67 other issues labeled as "High" priority by the company. Among the notable fixes is the resolution of a vulnerability in Samsung's Bluetooth pairing process, which could have allowed attackers to establish a pairing without user interaction. Additionally, the patch addresses a bug that could have potentially enabled Samsung DeX users in multi-user environments to access another user's data.
